How  Does Hypnotherapy Work?

Hypnotherapy uses 'Hypnosis'

- a guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness that is sometimes called a trance. Your attention is so focused while in this state that anything going on around you is temporarily blocked out or ignored. In this naturally occurring state, you may focus your attention with my guidance. It is important to note that Hypnosis is not 'mind control' and you are in complete control during the process.

I use Hypnosis as an aid to Psychotherapy (Counselling or Therapy), because the Hypnotic state allows you to explore painful thoughts, feelings, and memories that you may have hidden from your conscious mind. In addition, Hypnosis enables you to perceive some things differently, such as blocking an awareness of pain.

The Analytical Approach of Hypnosis in Hypnotherapy uses the relaxed state to explore a possible psychological root cause of a disorder or symptom, such as a traumatic past event that a person has hidden in his or her unconscious memory.

 

Once the trauma is revealed, it can be addressed with Psychotherapy.
